Cheer for CharlieThe ShowThis is page 2 of Cheer for Charlie. Page 1 is the preparation and training for Charlie Dimmock's one-off special in which Charlie joins the circus as a trapeze artist. What these pictures cannot show is the rigorous training and strength of character Charlie needed to fulfil the role and be accepted as competent to perform with the Romanian trapeze troupe, The Flying Ciobanu. Far removed from Ground Force, Charlie wears make-up and a skimpy outfit.
The pictures below show Charlie waiting in the wings for her cue. She might have preferred to be in the queue waiting for her wings, but she rises to the challenge as her many fans would expect. Tears of pain and frustration are replaced with smiles.
Charlie's mum and Tommy Walsh, from BBC's Ground Force, are caught up in the atmosphere and tension, but Charlie succeeds.
" I'm flying more like a hippopotamus " says Charlie, belittling all she had achieved. Although the many American visitors to this site are able to enjoy Ground Force with those of us in England, you won't have seen Charlie in this totally unfamiliar role.
